Concerts & Performances

Development of Performance Skills

  • Students are encouraged to perform regularly for fellow students, family and friends in informal Saturday afternoon concerts at the school. These performances are very useful goals to work towards and provide a very positive form of motivation.

  • The LPSM Instrumental Festival takes place just before Easter each year and provides another opportunity for students to gain performance experience. The festival is open to students from year two upwards on the advice of their teacher.

  • Students are also prepared, where appropriate, for the Newpark Music Festival and the Feis Ceoil competitions. Students may only enter these events following the recommendation of their teacher.

  • Each year LPSM hosts a High Achievers Concert for students who have excelled in their performance assessments.

Participation in School Ensembles

Leeson Park offers various ensembles, including Choirs, Flute, Guitar and String Orchestras. Your child’s instrumental teacher will provide more information about these groups and the audition procedure. We strongly recommend that all students learning an instrument join an ensemble at the school. Learning to sing and play with others is a key part of becoming a well-rounded musician.
